Future Trappers of Wisconsin (FTW) Youth Camp

CAMP DETAILS:

The Future Trappers of Wisconsin (FTW) Basic Trapping Camp is specifically oriented for youth ages 10-17 to become fully trapper education certified, which then allows them to buy and use a trapping license in Wisconsin. This camp is focused on helping youth to gain lots of hands-on experience in all aspects of trapping, increase self-confidence and knowledge, make valuable connections with peers and mentors, and participate in other fun outdoor activities.


Some of the skills they learn at camp include:

  • Identifying traps and trap parts
  • Wildlife biology and disease taught by WI DNR biologists
  • Trap preparation and setting in the field
  • Identifying animal tracks and sign
  • Both dryland and wetland trapping techniques and safety
  • Wisconsin trapping regulations education taught by WI DNR wardens
  • Fur preparation including skinning, fleshing, stretching
  • Safe, humane, and ethical trapping best management practices
  • Teamwork, respect, and collaboration with peers and trapping instructors

Who: Youth ages 10-17

When: July 23 - 26, 2025 (Drop off 9:00 A.M. July 23rd,  Pick up 1:00 P.M. July 26th)


Cost: $150


How to Register: Reach out to the camp coordinator with any questions and to get started registering. Email listed below or website submission at the bottom of this page.  Registration is first come, first serve. 


Spots have been filled before the June 1st deadline in previous years, so if you are interested, reach out early! At this point, a waitlist will be kept and will be drawn from if spots become open. Otherwise, applicants on the current year’s waitlist will receive priority registration for the next summer’s camp.
